Love Loses Guardianship Of Daughter
Rocker Courtney Love has lost temporary legal control of her teenage daughter Frances Bean Cobain.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ.com, the singer’s 17-year-old child with the late Kurt Cobain has been placed under the care of the Nirvana star’s mum, Wendy O’Connor, and the tragic rocker’s sister, Kimberly Dawn Cobain.
A Los Angeles Superior Court judge signed off on the legal papers on Friday (11Dec09), placing O’Connor and Cobain in charge of Frances’ personal and financial well-being. Love was not present for the hearing. However, the pair has no authority to touch the Frances Bean Cobain Irrevocable Trust of 1997, which was set up to help provide for the girl after Cobain’s death.
As WENN went to press, it was unknown why the guardianship was transferred. Court proceedings have been sealed. The order will remain in place until 10 February, 2010.
Cobain was found dead in his Seattle, Washington home in 1994, aged 27, and his passing was officially ruled a suicide from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. (MT/WNWCZM/KL)
